Although it may take a few weeks before this is established. We need to get to know you and to match your personality and skills to the appropriate Service Users. Once a Service User is allocated to you on a permanent basis you become an important part of the community care team. We try to make sure all our Service Users are allocated permanent care support workers to give them continuity of care – which is really important to them and us.

  • Regular Support

Your main point of contact will be your Coordinators. They are members of the team whose job it is to match the right care support worker to the right Service User. They are there to offer you support and advice whenever you need it. You will also be allocated a training mentor who will conduct supervision / appraisal meetings and help you with your professional development. Your Branch Manager will always spare time for you.

  • Advice outside working hours

Both branches are accessible out of hours for emergency calls where an experienced member of staff will be able to help you.

  • Holiday and Sickness Pay

In the first year you are entitled to holiday pay according to how long in that year you have worked for us. After your first year you will be entitled to four weeks holiday a year. Sick pay is paid in accordance with statutory sick pay legislation.

  • Training

You will undertake a 4-day Induction Course in which we will train you for all aspects of care work.  Our Mandatory Training consists of Medication, Manual Handling, Safeguarding Adults, Dementia, Infection Control, Emergency Treatments and Food Safety and Hygiene.  These will be refreshed on a yearly basis.

You will undertake training for the Care Act which is a 12 week course and you will be supported throughout this by your Training Advisor.  This will form part of your Diploma in Health and Social Care.

You will also be encouraged to complete a Diploma in Health and Social Care through an outside training agency and you will be allocated a Assessor who will guide you through this.

We also do in-house training courses and welcome any input from our Care Support Workers on these.
